Meet Chef Bastiaan
Flavor is emotion. And emotion is what Chef Bastiaan Pruijssen pours into every creation. With more than 25 years of experience — 18 of those as head chef in leading restaurants both in the Netherlands and abroad — he brings a rich culinary background to Restaurant Numa at Hotel Thermen Berendonck.
His love for cooking began in childhood. At the age of fourteen, he first set foot in a professional kitchen and immediately knew: this is my path. Since then, he has never left the kitchen.
With an impressive background in renowned Michelin-starred restaurants such as Onder de Linden, Froukje State, and De Bokkepruik, Bastiaan brings a wealth of culinary experience. His passion for the craft even took him to sunny Curaçao, where he built an entirely new restaurant concept from the ground up.
Trained as a chef and mentor, with a deep-rooted affinity for wine, Bastiaan knows how to touch not only flavors but also people. He combines craftsmanship with refinement, adding a unique dimension to every culinary experience. His dishes are more than nourishment — they are a journey, a story, an invitation to slow down.

With his signature creativity, determination, and optimism, he helped build Restaurant Numa – a place where gastronomy and wellness come together.
